Haven't read through the rest of the thread yet, but I was just thinking about Wario's icon the other day. Can she crawl? I suppose she should be able to do that. She can't be any more faithful to Metroid because her literal one ability is already accounted for, she's always been a high tier character, and her moveset has been a lot less boring post-Brawl as well once Sakurai started making even more shit up. Apart from that, I suppose there's probably potential to incorporate new ideas into the character inspired by Metroid in some way, but I can't really make any suggestions because I don't really know why you want to change her.

I'd rather ditch Zero Suit and rework regular Samus, declone Dark Samus, or just leave it at Samus and Ridley, but if you want to change the character the main demand I've seen is aesthetic: replace the rocket heels with boots.

The fanservice angle should have died somewhere around Fusion instead of coming back in full force. The character's introduction (and only appearance prior to Brawl) was as a stealth section where Samus was completely unable to fight and had only a useless stun pistol to defend herself.Īs a Metroid fan, I'm in the camp that really dislikes Zero Suit Samus. Zero Suit Samus in Smash is not at all faithful to Metroid, but that's kind of because Zero Suit Samus in Smash makes no sense. This time, the character I wanted to change but couldn't due to ignorance is Zero Suit Samus, so help me out if you feel like it.

The Ground Pound stays, but change the rhythm so it matches the pound from the Retro games. The longer you hold the button, the higher you fly, but hold it too long and it blows up, dealing damage and putting you in free-fall. It's one of those skull-and-crossbones barrels from the Retro Studios games. He can randomly roll a TNT barrel that deals more damage or a steel keg that bounces off walls. He rolls a barrel along the ground like in the arcade game. His new neutral special is a Clap, also from Jungle Beat, that produces a sound wave to stun opponents.

Mario throws Cappy, who spins in the air as long as you hold down the button.
